A rumor has recently surfaced regarding the future of Google's flagship Android device Nexus program. Digitmes reports that Google has already chosen to award Samsung with the contract to make the next Nexus device. Following the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, this will be Samsung's third consecutive Nexus device.
Google introduced us to the Nexus program with the Nexus One which was manufactured by HTC. Every other phone in the program has been built by Samsung in conjunction with Google. Since the introduction of the Galaxy line of Android phones, Samsung has enjoyed a comfortable position as top Android manufacturer.
This leadership in units sold along with the ability to manufacture an Android device with almost entirely in-house components are reported to be the main reasons Google has decided to stick with Samsung for the next iteration of the Nexus program.
Many have believed that Motorola would be making the next Nexus phone as Motorola Mobility, the division of Motorola responsible with their smart phone manufacturing is in the process of being acquired by Google. Google has preciously stated that this merger will not alter the process through which they choose their Nexus phone partners, however.
