According to a report from BGR, Apple's set-top box Apple TV will soon be supporting third-party applications as well. Apple is expected to unveil the Apple TV SDK (software development kit) during the days of the Apple WorldWide Developers Conference, which kicks off this week.
Since its launch years ago, the Apple TV set-top box was seen mostly as a hobby for Apple rather than a serious product (serious in the way they see the iPhone or iPod), but it seems that with the Smart TV market getting more attention, the company will start playing big the product.
The news of an Apple TV SDK show Apple is paying some attention to the smart TV but market, but it also shows that at this point, with an upcoming and highly-significant update to the set-top box, the company has no television set to unveil, at least for now.
