Apple has announced on its quarterly earning call that there are more than 650,000 apps available on the Apple App Store to download. It was 600K back in April and Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s executive said that 250,000 of those apps are optimized for iPad.
Another interesting news is, Apple has paid out about $5.5 Billion to developers, which is a big jump from $4 billion the company announced back in April. iOS 6 is also on its way so we can expect to see another jump in these numbers once the latest Apple mobile operating system is here.
Google has recently announced that they have about 600,000 apps in the Google Play store which is quite close to Apple. This announcement came out back in June so we can expect to see a close competition between these two app stores in the future.
