
Nuance, the company known for powering voice recognitions apps like Apple’s Siri is ready to launch its own Virtual Assistant, The Nuance Interactive Natural Assistant (NINA). Nina is a smart, flexible and intuitive virtual assistant for mobile customer service, according to Nuance.
The new speech-based virtual assistant, Nina can understand what the user is tapping, typing or saying and who is saying it. She can recognize the speaker using the speech recognition technology and other technologies like text-to-speech and voice biometric.
A pilot version will be launched this month and the complete version will be available to all USAA members from next year. USAA, the financial services provider is currently using Nina in its mobile app and all the other members will receive the full version later.
This virtual assistant will also come with software development kit and a set of APIs that will allow companies to customize Nina. Companies will be able to build voice capabilities too using the SDK into Android or iOS. It will be interesting to see how the Nina-powered apps work once it’s available.
