When we heard the news that a YouTube app had finally arrived on Sony’s PlayStation 3 in Europe, we could not help but think it was a case of too little too late. However, arrived it has, meaning PS3 owners can now watch YouTube videos directly from their console without browsing the internet.
YouTube, Sony, or maybe both have been late to this party when we consider that the PS3 is at the end of its life cycle, and Sony could well be announcing the PlayStation 4 next week. The European launch of the app follows the United States version that launched in August last year.
The app comes with controls that will be familiar with all smartphone users of YouTube, with subscriptions and searches present. Hopefully when the PlayStation 4 does launch we will not have to wait until it is seven years old to see a similar app from YouTube.
