iFixit names its best and worst tablets for reparability

ifixit tablet list

Last month iFixit, a website that specialises in assessing the reparability of devices gave Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet a 1 out of 10 and said it was the lowest scoring tablet they had ever tested. Today the website released its list of best to worst tablets in terms of reparability.

Of course, we already know that the Surface Pro is last, that one of 10 being particularly embarrassing for Microsoft. The Dell XPS 10 is the top scoring slate, with an impressive 9 out of 10, a score that was awarded thanks to the XPS 10’s colour coded screws and labelled wiring.

Apple joined Microsoft at the bottom of the list with its entire iPad range from the iPad 2 to the current iPad 4 and iPad Mini scoring just 2 points each. The iPads were found to be difficult to open, which is something that I can testify to having had experience trying. Amazon's Kindle range scored well on the test, as did Dell's Streak.
