In an effort to save the sinking ship of its television unit and also put an end to the continuous yearly losses they've been facing, Sony has announced the end of two divisions as well as the restructure of its money-losing television unit.
The Japanese company has announced the shutdown of the Consumer Products & Services Group division along with the Business Oriented Products & Components division. The first used to handle consumer-level products while the second one oversaw professional devices and solutions.
Satsuki Shinnaka, a spokeswoman for Sony, said that all changes will be made effective on April 1st to speed up management decisions. Kazuo Hirai, known for making the PlayStation division one of the most profitable electronics divisions of Sony, will take on the company's television unit on the same date.
