A rumor fresh out of Business Insider claims that Google is working a social gaming platform of their very own. This will help to centralize social gaming and aspects on Android devices which are currently scattered between various third party solutions such as OpenFeint.
This software service will reportedly plug into games to allow players to compare high-scores via socialized leaderboards and gather achievements or trophies as rewards for accomplishments in various games. Google has apparently realized the importance of gaming on a successful mobile platform.
Android has yet to achieve quite the same level of gaming success that iOS has come to enjoy. This is partially due to the incredible variety of devices but a unified social tie-in may be able to help get developers to look at the platform a little more seriously.
As for the nature of the solution Google is cooking up back in Mountain View, Business Insider's sources didn't reveal too much. It is highly likely that the service will plug in to Google+ in some way. This makes sense as it would allow users to use their unified Google identity to easily enjoy games with their friends.
