Just as the rumor we caught wind of several days ago said, Microsoft has officially unveiled their big screen meets small screen Xbox application, Smart Glass during their E3 press conference this morning. Many of the details from the leak appear to have been spot on with several new features along for the ride.
Smart Glass brings functionality similar to Apple's AirPlay to the Xbox 360 in a far more platform agnostic fashion. Content can be beamed directly from you Android, iOS, Windows 8, or Windows Phone devices to your Xbox and displayed on your television.
The application announcement also brought with it several new features. While using Smart Glass, your tablet or smartphone is transformed into a secondary display which is augmented with new information for television content and gameplay options while playing Xbox 360 games.
The newly announced Internet Explorer for Xbox 360 can also make use of your mobile devices as a remote trackpad which will allow users to pinch to zoom content and move the cursor all from their touchscreen device. However, Smart Glass won't be released until sometime this fall.
A trailer which demonstrates Smart Glass and some of the other new Xbox features announced at E3 is included below.
