Nintendo’s 3DS handheld gaming unit has sold a staggering 22 million units around the world up until September 30th. 6 million of those sales have been in the United States and includes the entire 3DS family including the 3DS XL.
The numbers are all the more impressive when it is taken into account that the 3DS has only been on sale since March 2011. It means that the whole DS range has sold an unbelievable 155 million units since its basic model launch in 2004.
As well as the 22 million units, Nintendo also enjoyed extremely strong software sales, with an impressive 64.45 million units sold globally. Nintendo announced today that on Black Friday 23rd November their limited edition flame red 3DS (pictured) will be bundled with Super Mario 3D Land for a knock down price of $170.
