The iPhone has had many apps to turn it into a flashlight. This was done simply by making the main screen itself as bright as possible, which of course is a nice to have at times and you even see smartphones used like this in films. Thing is the iPhone 4 can do this without even having to have an app installed to do it.
This little trick is made possible because it actually uses the cameras LED flash instead of using the main screen. There are apps now though that do this for you anyway but it’s still fun to know you don’t need them to actually do this. Of course it’s also to be noted that the flash on the camera is a lot stronger than the older method of using the phone as a “flash light”
Turning on the iPhone Flashlight
To turn on the flashlight (or what can be passed as a flashlight) is actually quite simple. All you have to do is to change the phones camera to video mode. Then touch the top left of the screen and you will see that the LED Flash mode will show on the screen. Simply set this as on and there you have it the phone will now work as a flashlight.
Most people probably won’t have a use for this little trick but it’s just something the iPhone 4 can do and it’s a little fun. Experimenting with the iPhone can always be interesting to find the little tricks that it can pull, like for example Siri and its hidden answers for certain geeky questions.
