The guys, who want their computer to download stuff over night and auto shutdown itself, might be wondering which software is good to automatically shutdown Windows 7.
In Windows 7, we do not need any third party tool/software to do this task. We can make Windows to automatically shut it down through Task Scheduler.
Task Scheduler is a simple program found in every version of Windows.
Step 1
Locate and open Schedule Tasks under System & Security tab in Control Panel.

Step 2
Click on 'Create Basic Task' located under Actions tab at the right. Now a separate window will pop out. Give a short name to the task like Windows Shutdown or PC Shutdown. Click 'Next'.

Step 3
Now we have to set the task trigger i.e. the occurrence frequency of the task. If it is a onetime task then select 'One time'. If you need your computer to shut down daily then select 'Daily' and proceed next.

Step 4
On this screen, select the time and date of launch of the task. The computer will shut down at the same time and date.

Step 5
Here we describe what the task will do? Select 'Start a Program' and click 'Next'.

Step 6
Here, we will link the shutdown program with the task. Click on 'Browse'. Select shutdown.exe file located in System32 folder. Click 'Next'.

Step 7
On the final screen, summary of the task is given. Click 'Finish' to finalize and create the task. Once the task is created, it will appear in the active tasks tab and will trigger windows shutdown program at user specified time.
